Cabling and Bracing provides extra safety support for branches and limbs with weak attachment.
These systems are especially useful in protecting your valuable specimen trees from splitting stems/trunks & tearing limbs.
Multi stemmed trees are particularly vulnerable, such as Pohutukawa, Liquid Ambar & Oak trees.
Also a problem are trees that have not received proper
care & attention either in the nursery, or after planting. Branches or limbs with weak attachments are neglected & left to grow larger, rather than be removed at an early stage & letting the stronger, better formed branches & stems dominate.
A correctly installed cabling or bracing system has the
strength & stability to minimise against this problem & protect against unnecessary damage.
Cabling is the securing of two or more stems together.
This allows both stems natural wind movement together, yet prevents them from being “torn apart”.
Bracing is the “propping up” of very large, heavy drooping limbs, for support. The less weight or strain on the branch union, the less likely it is to fail.
