Primary reasons for pruning include removing dead branches, removing crowded or rubbing limbs for the best form, eliminating hazards, improving sunlight & air movement throughout the tree. Done properly, with an understanding of
tree biology, pruning can maintain good tree health & structure. It can also enhance the beauty & economic value of our landscapes.
Correct pruning techniques:
1. All cuts shall be made as close as possible to the trunk or parent limb, without cutting into the branch bark collar or leaving a protruding stub, so that closure can readily start under normal conditions.
2. Clean cuts shall be made at all times.
3. When necessary, to prevent property damage, limbs and tree trunks shall be lowered to the ground by the use of proper ropes & equipment.
4. All cut limbs shall be removed from the tree\'s crown when the pruning is complete.
Pruning is to be performed by tree workers who, through related training and on-the-job experience, are familiar with the techniques and hazards of this work, including trimming maintenance, repairing or removal, and equipment used in such operations. The use of climbing spurs or irons is not approved in pruning operations on live trees. This type of work is a potentially hazardous occupation and is to be undertaken only by trained personnel or under the supervision of trained personnel. All of Baker Tree Services employees are covered with Accident compensation, and your property is covered by our General Liability Insurance policy.
